Takeda Pharmaceutical Company sought OPM services to assist with the management of its capital improvements portfolio in Massachusetts which consists of a mix of office and lab space across three campuses: two in Cambridge and one in Lexington. The projects include the design and construction of new flexible open office fit-outs, boardrooms, infrastructure upgrades and lab transformations to support both day-to-day modifications as well as a robust three-year initiative that will update lab spaces to accommodate the current business needs and improve adjacencies. Northstar’s management oversight ensures that tight schedules and budgets are maintained, stakeholders’ needs are addressed and communication to leadership is concise and accurate. In order to achieve this success, Northstar builds consensus with the end user groups, stakeholders as well as the design and construction teams.
Specific to lab space, Northstar’s involvement has included projects for Pharmacological Science (Pharm Sci) as well as Research and Development. The Pharm Sci initiatives include cell line development supporting cell therapy, gene therapy and viral vector production technology including the development of a high-volume cell culture pilot plant. Research and Development assignments include a comprehensive realignment of departments as well as the implementation of several core labs that will support Takeda’s R&D pipeline.
