Akamai Broadcast Operations Command Center

One of Northstar’s responsibilities while developing Akamai’s Cambridge headquarters was to assist with the development of three operation control centers. One of which was Akamai’s 2,800 SF BOCC otherwise known as their Broadcast Operations Control Center.
The BOCC features a 45’ wall of 33 displays, which is used as a backdrop for pushing content from the consoles to the feature wall. There is a divide and combine glass wall between Akamai’s BOCC to their NOCC, allowing for the space to be opened up to a 100’ display.
This high-end technology filled space was built while construction was still ongoing throughout the remainder of the building and floor. This created a challenging and tight schedule window in which the vendor (Constant Technologies) had to deliver, install, test/startup a brand-new system prior to the building’s completion. Northstar successfully coordinated this install between the vendor and GC to finalize the space within the tight constraints.
