AEW retained Northstar to manage three projects across four floors in their Seaport headquarters. The projects involved an IT office suite, a penthouse conferencing space with an outdoor deck, and a complete reconfiguration of their existing office space.
Their existing office space is 65,000 SF on two floors and featured upgrades to their full-service cafe, dining area, and fitness center. The offices were reduced in quantity and brought to the building’s core, the open workspace incorporates all new workstations, and along the window line, a diversity of workspace was created, known as the back porches for each quadrant.
The other two projects are landlord builds in which Northstar serves as AEW’s representative. The first of these two involves creating a dedicated IT workspace on a lower floor to free up office space on the main floors. The second was canceled but consisted of relocating mechanical systems on the roof to create a penthouse conferencing suite. This project began at the start of the pandemic and was successfully delivered with minimal impact on the schedule. A primary challenge was managing the project as one with multiple design teams and general contractors with different schedules.
