Ipsitha Bayapu: Five Years of Professional Growth and Success at Northstar
January 2025
Northstar is proud to celebrate Ipsitha Bayapu’s 5th anniversary with the company.
Ipsitha Bayapu has over five years of experience as an Owner’s Project Manager in the AEC industry. Currently, she is closing out a multi-phase R&D lab renovation project as well as managing various interior improvement projects for leading pharmaceutical companies—from planning and design to construction, closeout, and occupancy.
Ipsitha joined Northstar as a recent MS graduate in Building Construction and Facilities Management from the Georgia Institute of Technology. Since then, she has made significant contributions to various projects, including leading a multi-phase lab renovation and managing several office renovation initiatives. Prior to joining Northstar, Ipsitha honed her skills as a Project Engineer on a multi-family housing project in Lower Manhattan. Recently, she was accepted into CoreNet New England’s prestigious George M. Conti Young Leaders Professional Development Program, marking an exciting next step in her career.
Ipsitha notes that as an Owner’s Project Manager in the dynamic and ever-changing life sciences sector, managing complex, multi-phase renovation projects present unique challenges. One of the biggest hurdles is adapting to frequent and often unpredictable changes in project scope due to evolving business needs. The fast-paced nature of this industry necessitates a high degree of agility and adaptability from the project team. To address this, she works to balance the needs of the client, project team, and end-users by quickly addressing and implementing client-initiated changes when appropriate.
What excites her the most about her role is the opportunity to contribute to the creation of state-of-the-art laboratories that support the development of life-saving treatments. She attributes the success of her projects to the highly collaborative environment within her teams. Whether resolving design or construction conflicts, or coordinating occupancy plans, every team member is committed to finding innovative solutions. By fostering open dialogue and mutual respect, they can successfully balance the diverse needs of clients, end-users, and project team members.
Ipsitha is a licensed architect in India, holding a Bachelor of Architecture degree from Jadavpur University in Kolkata. Raised in the Himalayan Valley, Ipsitha has a deep appreciation for sustainability and the natural world. She believes her upbringing in a Himalayan village, combined with her architectural education in India, instilled in her a strong sense of the vernacular approach to design and construction. This philosophy, rooted in resourcefulness and climate-consciousness, has significantly influenced her passion for sustainable building practices, which she strives to integrate in her personal and professional endeavors.
Outside of work, Ipsitha enjoys hands-on activities such as crafting, cooking, photography, and exploring new places.
Thank you, Ipsitha, for your five years of dedication and leadership at Northstar. We look forward to watching you continue to grow and excel in your career.
