Northstar Announces Promotions to Project Manager

Northstar is proud to announce the promotions of Katie Eichel, Kamal Sheik, and Danica Woo to Project Manager.


Katie Eichel has more than four years of experience in owner’s project management and structural engineering, working on various tenant improvement and core/shell projects for pharmaceutical, life science, higher education, and development clients. She has contributed to the conceptual planning and design of a new student housing development at Dartmouth College. She most notably worked with Sanofi to convert and expand a 50,000 SF Genomic Medicine Unit in Waltham. Katie’s background is in structural engineering, with an MS and BS in civil engineering from Northeastern University. Katie serves on two of Northstar’s employee led committees; the Workplace Committee, which plans and implements office improvement projects and the Training and Standards Committee where she helps with employee training and streamlining Northstar’s project management toolkit.

Kamal Sheik has more than five years of experience in owner’s project management and the A/E/C industry. He manages project teams through various phases of the project life cycle, including planning, design, construction administration, closeout, and occupancy. Kamal’s background spans from research & development initiatives to office tenant improvements to infrastructure upgrades required to convert offices to laboratories. He has been providing support for Rafi Properties’ Somernova Campus Expansion in Somerville, managing the planning, entitlements, design, and construction of 1,650,000 SF of above-grade ground-up speculative life science/tough tech/office space building. He is also managing the office space and technology upgrades across three existing buildings in conformance with the client’s new workplace strategy. Kamal received his MS in Construction Management and Technology from Purdue University and his Bachelor of Architecture from Jadavpur University. Kamal plays a key role in Northstar’s Onboarding Committee, ensuring new employees are welcomed and equipped with the necessary tools for their roles. Additionally, he contributes to the Training and Standards Committee where he helps with employee training and streamlining Northstar’s project management toolkit.

Danica Woo has more than four years of experience in owner’s project management. She specializes in managing capital planning and development projects for higher education residential facilities. She has worked with the Harvard University Housing team on a variety of capital improvement projects, including interior renovations for multi-bedroom luxury units, building façade restorations, and building roof restorations. Currently, she is involved in the planning, design, permitting, and construction of a new 300-bed apartment-style student housing building on Dartmouth College’s campus, as well as the planning, design, permitting and new construction of the second phase of student housing development on the West Wheelock Corridor. Danica holds a B.S. in Architecture and Experience Design from Northeastern University Danica is an active member of the Society for College and University Planning and on the Board of Advisors for the Friends of Reggie Wong Park in Boston’s Chinatown. Additionally, she serves on two of Northstar’s employee led committees; the Workplace Committee, which plans and implements office improvement projects and the Training and Standards Committee where she helps with employee training and streamlining Northstar’s project management toolkit.
