LightView Achieves LEED Platinum Certification

February 2021

We would like to congratulate our partners at American Campus Communities (ACC) for the recent LEED Platinum certification of their LightView student housing complex.

The new 21-story facility is located on the Northeastern University campus and includes 825 beds across 214 suite style apartment units, 12,000 square feet of ground floor amenity space and 2,000 square feet of future ground floor retail space. LightView is the first private student housing LEED platinum building in Boston, but continues a trend for ACC. The company leads the student housing industry in environmental sustainability with 37 LEED-certified projects across the country.

LightView’s sustainable design incorporates high efficiency mechanical systems, as well as reduced water flow at the laundry, shower heads, lavatory faucets and toilets. Careful consideration was given to the building materials and the inclusion of locally sourced recycled materials and low VOC finishes. The sustainable features extend to exterior which includes permeable hardscapes, drought tolerant plantings, a high efficiency irrigation system, stormwater management and FSC certified tropical wood.

Northstar is proud to have been part of such a cutting-edge sustainable project! Thanks for the contributions of all the team members involved.
